(although poor Chekov got left out).

Well, I had Sulu in there, but I guess Chekov should have a turn, too. Here you go, my dear...

It was far too late to be down in Engineering. Pavel knew that. But during dessert, the final piece of the equation had fallen into place, like pieces fitting into a square. Hikaru looked annoyed but amused when he exclaimed (in Russian, of course, because it would be rude to curse in Standard and be understood) and excused himself. Hikaru made him promise a "raincheck" (they are in space, why would there be rain?) before he left to find Mr. Scott to fine tune the Ionic Radiation Flashburn Decay equation.

It was nearly empty during this late hour and Mr Scott was nowhere to be found. Chekov peered around the water turbine pipes and brightened when he spied the captain standing in front of a console. Прекрасно. In his mind, Chekov clapped his hands together. Perhaps the captain would know where Mr. Scott is.

Before he could approach, however, another had separated from the shadows and came up from behind the captain to settle a hand on the small of the captain's back.

Captain Kirk merely chuckled.

"I suppose this is payback for all those times I visited you, Bones."

Eh?

There was a husky chuckle that made Chekov fidget because it is a sound he suspects no one is allowed to hear except for the captain. As he watched from behind the pipes, the large hand wandered and--Oh!

Captain Kirk just leaned back into the hand now boldly cupping his buttocks with a lazy stroke, as if reminding Kirk of ownership.

"Just one more subroutine," Kirk murmured as the shadow behind him shifted closer and the blue gleam of the medical tunic revealed itself against the gold.

Chekov's cheeks burned when he heard a gruff "Your shift ended hours ago, Jim". Oh, he must tell Hikaru!

"The calculations slowed after that nebula. It was bothering me on the bridge," Kirk said even as he hummed when the other hand snaked around to his front, to a place Chekov needed to turn away from looking because his knees were beginning to tremble and perhaps he was leaning on a turbine because it has become very hot.

There was a moan from the captain that wasn't pain and a chuckle from the other now.

"Anything else bothering you now, kid?"

"Oh yeah..."

Pavel slipped away just as Kirk turned abruptly around. He could hear mutterings, groans as he turned another corner. He froze when he saw Mr. Scott with a dinner tray heading towards where he just left so Pavel greeted him with a very loud "Evening, Mr. Scott!" It was loud enough for Mr. Scott to drop his tray but it was worth the funny accented scolding of "My poor wee heart nearly supernovaed, laddie" when they returned to the console to find it deserted.
