All I can say is my twins, still not old enough to watch 'Pretty Woman', pointed this out to me, asking "Why is the baby wearing that?" They're ten. Maybe I'm being a prude. Hubby laughed at image and mother. All I want to do is fly down there and slap that woman silly.

I hate child beauty pageants in general, actually hate them right up to all ages but especially when it's below college-age. Having admitted my bias, this is especially tasteless, unless it was meant as a fuck you to the whole process (look you're all dressing your daughters up like whores, I'm just being obvious about it). Doubt it was that meta.

Considering the mother defended herself by saying that at least she wasn't letting her child participate in sports where she could potentially be injured, I'm very sure there was no meta involved.

Meta? Sigh. I wish! I agree with you two. It's examples like this that makes me want to raise my children in a bubble!

Wow, way to sexualize your three year old. There is nothing about that that isn't wrong.

Exactly. Three. Three! She should be learning how to frost cupcakes and crack eggs!

Or climb a tree. Something that does not objectify her.

*Looks horrified*

I will be happy to pay for your fare, this is the reason why child beauty pagents need to be drastically reviewed. I dont agree with pagents that involve makeup and costumes, I believe a childs personality should shine for them.

While I understand every parent wants their child to shine, but does success have to be in a form of a trophy, tiara and money? What are these kids learning about success?

YERLP!

Yeah. that program really sucks. You should hear the outrage over the organisers trying to do such pagents over here. Regularly making the front page news as 'WORLD OF NO'.

I'm passing round the hat for you. I'm the mother of boys so thank God never had to worry about how to dress my kids. Dirt was their accessory of choice. I feel real sorry for those mothers actually. How were they brought up? What do they judge themselves against? Hmmmm It's all very sad.
