QUESTION: Torchwood & Dark Angel Sequels

I've been playing around with this in my head and honestly, I'm fearing if I don't post now, I might never post. So my question to you, dear readers, is:
If I start posting my Dark Angel sequel, unbetaed, how horrible would that be? Take in consideration my previous unbetaed works, keeping in mind while spelling is decent, my grasp on verb tenses is iffy.
Plus, I have been stuck on my Torchwood sequel, but I do want to complete this universe. I have fragments of parts for how the story rolls out. I never got to fill in the gaps. I think, however, it'll give you all an idea of at I wanted to do with second season. What do you think? Dare I?
Reason I'm asking is I know I am very demanding of my betas, betaing my fics is a lot of work because I write long, especially for AUs. Maybe I'm old and behind the times, but lately, I've been seeing fics everywhere unbetaed. Back in my day (covers red face), doing that gets a big backlash. Support too, but basically, it was a no-no.
Has that changed? Or does it depend on where I post this? Or is this a question I shouldn't be asking? I have a dozen stories in other fandoms sitting in my hard drive for months because I was trying to find betas before posting them.
