-arms in air- Seriously, I think my hair is going white and I am officially addicted to gingerbread. I made gingerbread pancakes today and ingerbread brownies. Oh woe. If only they turned out horrible but darn it all, my cursed baking hand actually came out a winner. LOL.
Just to keep everything orderly and me on track, this is the posting schedule I am praying to stick to for The Oncoming Storm:
Act III: Saturday 8PM EST
Act IV : Sunday 8PM EST
Act V : Monday 6PM EST
Act VI : Tuesday 6PM EST
Act VII: Wednesday 8PM EST (Christmas Eve)
And if I survive the dinner, the in-laws, the ripping into presents, the crumbs sure to collect, the Epilogue will be posted Friday 9PM EST.
Oddly, knowing we're so close gets me teary eye...

Date: 2008-12-19 08:10 pm (UTC)Back to resting. Or possibly those silly-looking-but-really-important-exercises. Don't you DARE push yourself too hard for the sake of a silly schedule. Okay?
-tries best to look menacing, but is distressingly a few centimetres too short to achieve the correct effect, and instead comes off looking more like, well, something not menacing at all, who happens to fail at similies-

Date: 2008-12-19 09:01 pm (UTC)Mmmm....great, just got another idea, maybe use the mix for waffles, maybe serve with butter pecan ice cream as dessert. My family is going to think mommy is losing it if I serve them more gingerbread today. LOL

Date: 2008-12-20 01:41 am (UTC)Thank you for the recipe! gonna try that one tomorrow.
Well the kids think that pumpkin pancakes are to die for, I never get any pumpkin cookies 'cause of it!
Oh butter pecan, dang too many options!
Gonna have to go with waffles though, kids just over ruled me on the pancakes. sigh LOL oldest wants to use the waffle maker.

Date: 2008-12-20 01:59 am (UTC)If you don't have gingerbread mix (I got mine at Walmart), here's the long recipe I was using originally and tweaked:
3.5 cups all-purpose flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves (optional)
1/2 tablespoon candied ginger, chopped (also optional)
4 large eggs (I use large white but brown's fine)
2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 1/3 cups milk
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter, plus some to butter the iron
I mix all the dry (because it's like making your own future gingerbread mix for just about anything), then wet. Treat like you would muffns, just combine don't overmix.

Date: 2008-12-20 03:23 pm (UTC)And am happy to say that your recipe was a bit hit! HA!
I bow to your cooking expertise! And the best thing this morning? The girls wanted to use your recipe! So I am sitting at the table (okay I should be studying bio-chem) drinking a cup o tea and reading.
Thank you! for inspiring the offspring to want to create breakfast!
LOL hmmmm would you be interested in adopting me? I could always use a sister! ;~)

Date: 2008-12-20 08:02 pm (UTC)Ah, that's better than breakfast! It's like hubby offering to load the dishwasher.
Okay, not quite the same. LOL

Date: 2008-12-19 11:30 pm (UTC)Regardless, I'm super excited. Of course, I have to figure out how to access it once I'm home (Sun night- cali), but I'll steal someone's computer. And get TOS all loaded up on my ereader for the plane right back, since between moving, working on my journal article, spending time with family, and a New Year's in San Fran, I will probably have about ten minutes or so to compile the story ;)

Date: 2008-12-20 12:48 am (UTC)That tech stuff both impresses and frightens me. LOL.
I'm home alone...er...with my cats as hubby goes with my SiL, her kids, ours and BiL to wrangle the mall. I plead old age, headache everything to stay home with a tea and an omelet, my laptop and "The Last of the Time Lords" playing on a loop. I should feel guilty yet I'm not. LOL.

Date: 2008-12-20 12:44 am (UTC)-weeping- Thank goodness for that. I remember the twins' first Christmas, things were simpler then. Buy them nappies and yea, happy holidays. Now? They can tell me what they want, which thankfully is modest but sometimes I fear/regret not being able to get them like what one classmate got: a $1000 Barbie Ferrari. Ack. I mean, it's hard to go up against that when said kid comes in class today with it. I got them what they wanted: the Harry Potter lego set and the Winnie the Pooh book set with plushies from Pooh and Paddington Bear (their favorite storybooks), but there are times I fear they'll turn around one day and say "Why can't we get that?"
Two inches? Oh geez, I'm surrounded by giants, but hey, I'm a redhead and you know what they say about them. LOL...

Date: 2008-12-20 09:19 pm (UTC)-growl- Do that, hon, and you'll most likely send me down a post-gingerbread downward spiral that'll stop everything in my tracks and send me curled under a blanket, watching some soap opera and a container of fudge ripple in my lap. LOL

Date: 2008-12-20 09:38 pm (UTC)I like this. post-gingerbread downward spiral. Jack or Ianto curled under the blanket, watching an soap opera with the other coming to the rescue with fudge ripple.
*looks around, makes sure that nobody is looking, steals plot-weevil*
Ok, you win. Just please, don't go to the land of soap operas. Please. Don't. It's horrible there. *grin*
